Oddly enough, God apparently isn't a college basketball fan. Who knew??

Poor Predictions From God: Never Trust God’s Hoops Recruiting Sheet

You might remember Kentucky freshman hooper Alex Legion, whose mother famously was told by God would lead the Wildcats to the Final Four. Well, God would like a mulligan, please. Legion, less than 10 games in, is transferring.

I’m always amazed at the things that people attribute to God’s will, as if they need the implied imprimatur of the Almighty in order to justify their self-interested behavior and sense of entitlement. Uh…don’tcha think that God probably has a few other things on His mind besides whether of not Kentucky makes it to another Final Four? What with famine, war, pestilence, and the writer’s strike, I’d imagine that the Good Lord probably has a pretty full plate. I mean, just keeping up with Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © has got to be enough to keep the poor Deity’s head spinning like a top.

In spite of all of the really terrible things that would keep even a truly adept Supreme Being hopping, there are still some folks convinced that they or their progeny have been inordinately blessed and therefore due things over and above what would normally accrue to us mere mortals. Perhaps Alex Legion should have just gone straight to the NBA…that seemed to work out all right for Kobe Bryant, no?

Yes, it seems that no matter how busy God is, he always finds the time to watch SportsCenter.

‘Course, this isn’t to say that Yahweh doesn’t deserve a mulligan now and again….
