Proof positive that higher education is not an impediment to being a DUMB@$$

Students Dress as VT Victims, Cause Outrage

It started with a picture on Facebook and has now created a firestorm of outrage. Two Penn State students, dressed as Virginia Tech shooting victims, at a Halloween party have enraged people from the Virginia Tech community, as well as the entire country. 10 On Your Side has seen all of the controversial pictures. They are of two Penn State students and are extremely graphic. Both are wearing Virginia Tech t-shirts and elaborate make-up. Both have bullet holes in their bodies.

I imagine that most, if not all, of us have done something phenomenally stupid…usually in college and probably fueled by an overabundance of alcohol (No, I’m not about to own up to my own sordid alcohol-soaked stupidity. It’s embarrassing enough just to think about it.). Doing stupid things just seems to go along with the college experience.

Cue Chef: “THERE’S A TIME AND A PLACE FOR THAT…AND IT’S CALLED COLLEGE!!”

It’s amazing how far a little ignorance and immaturity can go when you combine it with alcohol and a complete absence of sensitivity and simple human decency. Even so, not even I could imagine something so thoroughly tasteless, so completely disrespectful, and so utterly and disturbingly insensitive as this party.

Yes, I understand that these were two young, stupid, and spectacularly unaware DUMB@$$E$, but no one with even the barest shred of decency would think of openly trading on the suffering of so many for their own entertainment. So next year they’ll be dressed like someone who died on 9.11? Or perhaps someone shot and killed while Christmas shopping in Omaha? Or how about a Jew on their way to the gas chamber? And after a few beers, if you have a machete, you can play a rousing game of “Hutu and Tutsi”. The possibilities for this sort of entertainment are almost endless, aren’t they?

I would hope that these idiots are held up to the ridicule they so richly deserve…and a heartfelt apology would be a nice first step, don’tchathink??
