Cue the revisionist history in 4...3...2...1....

After 9/11, I would never have taken us to war in Iraq,” she said. “I would have stayed focused on Afghanistan because the real threat was coming from there.

RIIIGGGHHHT….

I suppose this is where we begin to find out what Hillary Clinton is made of. Though I’ve endorsed Barack Obama, I’ve always admired Hillary Clinton. She’s tough, brilliant, and beyond capable. Desperation, though, brings out the less attractive qualities in anyone, and Clinton is certainly no exception. OK, so perhaps if she was President after 9.11, she wouldn’t have dragged this country into a senseless, interminable war in Iraq. What she so conveniently neglected to mention, though, is that she was one of the enablers who voted to give Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © his Excellent Adventure in Iraq © . I’m not going to beat her up over it; to my everlasting shame, I also fell for the Bushies’ propaganda campaign. I initially supported the war, because I believed the case that was laid out by The Worst President EVER © and his merry band of thugs and Josef-Goebbels-channeling propagandists. I’m not proud of it, but I was willing to take this sorry excuse for a human being President at his word. Boy, did that work out well or what??

Having issued my mea culpa, though, I’m not about to countenance Sen. Clinton engaging in revisionist history. If she’s going to condemn a war that was purchased with lies and propaganda, then she at least needs to own up to her role in the catastrophe. I can handle a President who makes mistakes; what I cannot stand is a President who refuses to admit to a mistake and does their best to paint themselves in the soft white light of rectitude and infallibility. Haven’t seven years of that been enough?

WE DESERVE BETTER.
