It turns out that sacrificing Americans for no discernible reason ain't cheap. Who knew?

U.S. war costs in Iraq up: report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Iraq war may not dominate U.S. news reports as the carnage drops, but a new report underscores the financial burden of persistent combat that is helping run up the government’s credit card…. “Funding for U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and other activities in the war on terrorism expanded significantly in 2007,” the Congressional Budget Office said in a report released on Wednesday. War funding, which averaged about $93 billion a year from 2003 through 2005, rose to $120 billion in 2006 and $171 billion in 2007 and President George W. Bush has asked for $193 billion in 2008, the nonpartisan office wrote.

blood.jpgIt would be nice to think that the sacrifices made by so many (not too mention the tax dollars spent) would have something to show…something like…oh, I don’t know…increased security? IN AMERICA? Despite the staggering amount of American blood and treasure expended in Iraq, security there has increased only incrementally. Even more depressing is the reality that the American sheeple has remained silent while our sons and daughters have been sacrificed on the altar of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s © legacy. Four thousand Americans (and counting) have lost their lives (and many thousands more have been wounded, maimed, and/or psychologically scarred) in Iraq…and for what? Large sections of the country are still virtually lawless. Terrorists, death squads, and violent extremists still kill, maim, and plunder at will. The rule of law is largely a joke. And American soldiers are reduced to driving increasingly heavily armored vehicles to avoid becoming IED fodder.

Yeah, how’s that all working out for you? Mission Accomplished, my @$$….

Think about it for a moment. The Worst President EVER © has asked for $193 BILLION to fund the war in Iraq this year. That’s not a typo; that’s “billion”. That’s like Alex Rodriguez’ yearly salary or something. Just saying the number- $193 BILLION- is staggering. It’s a buttload of money, an amount so vast it defies rational understanding. There are countries around the world whose entire Gross Domestic Product doesn’t begin to approach $193 BILLION. And we’re going to be spending it on a pointless war of occupation and attrition that was sold to us as a war against terrorism.

Somewhere, Josef Goebbels is smiling….
