Land of the (not so) free, home of the corrupt and immoral

So you think that the Bush Administration is committed to keeping America safe and secure? And you think that President Cheney cares a whit about freedom and liberty and all that other stuff we learned about in high school civics? Well, I suppose there’s a certain benign naivete inherent in wanting to believe that our government is looking out for out best interests. Then again, you might as well just own up to the reality that you’re living in a dream world.

Think I’m kidding? Go watch “Cheney’s Law”, and then come back. Then we can talk about what’s being done- the crimes that have been committed and the civil liberties that have been strangled- in our name. We can talk about the fact the the Vice-President has been not only complicit, but active, in creating the trappings of a police state. That may sound alarmist, but I’ve watched for the past seven years as the country I love has been hijacked by a cabal of immoral, power-mad thugs concerned primarily and only with the aggregation and maintenance of political power by any means necessary. These are people who live by the words of the late Nikita Krushchchev, would once said that you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs…and no, the man wasn’t talking about breakfast at Denny’s.

I’ve watched my country, which I’d always believed stood for liberty and freedom, use 9.11 as a device that could be manipulated to scare the American sheeple into mute complicity. Oppostion to the manner in which the war on terror has been prosecuted was swiftly painted as unAmerican and tantamount to treason. Dissent was quickly silenced by branding those who dared to differ as enemies of the state and supporters of the evil aims of terrorists.

Yeah, what Bill of Rights???

STILL GLAD YOU VOTED REPUBLICAN? DON’T YOU WISH EVERYONE WOULD?
