Cody Hauer, 18, received four citations in one week from the Owatonna Police Department for having a $40 window decal on the rear window of his Buick Park Avenue. “I support Ron Paul, the city police department doesn’t,” he says. “They gave me a DWR - driving while Republican.”
What is it about some Ron Paul supporters that allows them to feel as if they’re being persecuted for their views? The fact of the matter is that most of America doesn’t give a (&^% about Ron Paul or his supporters, which is why he’s consistently been polling around 5% in recent primaries. These “Paultards” give the thoughtful, lucid majority of Paul’s supporters a bad name.
The reality is that, no matter how much Hauer has convinced himself that he’s being persecuted for his beliefs, he was ticketed for being in violation of Minnesota law. In Minnesota, it’s illegal “to operate a motor vehicle on any street or highway if any side window or rear window is composed of or treated with material obstructing the driver’s view”. The rear window of Hauer’s Buick Park Avenue (the de facto Official Minnesota State Car) featured a 13” x 40” decal which took up most of the window’s surface. Hauer was stopped four times because he was breaking the law, NOT because he supports Ron Paul…or is he really arrogant and self-absorbed enough to believe that he’s being persecuted for his beliefs. Jeebus, what a fool….
I’m not here to impugn the integrity and intelligence of all Ron Paul supporters, because the majority really are lucid, intelligent folks. Cody Hauer, though, is part of a seriously deluded minority for whom the term “Paultard” doesn’t begin to accurately portray the depth of their self-delusion.
Memo to Cody Hauer: Jeebus, dude…get over yourself already, willya?? No one cares about your zealous delusions of being the object of persecution by the arm of state power. NO ONE CARES.
