It's a process, not a destination

I’ve been blogging for 6 1/2 years now, and I think over that time I’ve done some good (and, yes, some not so good) things. It’s been an amazing and humbling experience in many respects, and it makes me proud to think that I can reasonably be considered one of the “old guard” - those who were blogging prior to 9.11. My passion for writing, and my interest in politics and the world around me have allowed me to examine issues and events in ways I’d never dreamed possible. In the life of everything, though, there comes a time to adapt or die. I have no plans to die, but I do feel the need to make some changes. Since I’m no longer living in Texas (I’m currently living in Beaverton, OR, a suburb of Portland), I’m thinking that my focus needs to change to reflect my current realities. While I’ll always maintain an interest in Texas politics (no, you really CAN’T fix stupid, can you?), being 2500 miles from my former home on the Gulf Coast means that I’m seeing things from a different perspective and a different place.

David Flanders has been generous enough to agree to work on a mew masthead for me. I’m looking for something less geographically-oriented and more in line with my smartass sense of humor and my Liberal political leanings. David designed the masthead above, and in a few days he’ll no doubt have more for me to consider. I’m excited about the possibility of changing the look of TPRS, even if only slightly. Change is good, and anyone who knows me will confirm that I have an exceedingly low threshold for boredom.

Along those lines, I’m also seriously considering changing the name of TPRS. I’m open to the possibility of keeping the name as more of a state of mind than as a reflection on my location, but I’m rolling a lot of ideas around in my thick li’l haid. This is where y’all come in. I have some ideas for names, but I wanted to throw it out to my readers to see what y’all might come up with. If there’s no clear favorite, I may narrow the field and put the winners up for a vote. TPRS is not a democracy, of course, but I value my readership. Some of y’all have stuck around for years (don’t y’all have families or jobs?), and you’ve been a part of this weblog’s evolution. Who knows? Some of you may even come up with better ideas than I might.

I’m still not sure about the name change, but it’s a distinct possibility. I’ll let you know as things develop, but I would definitely appreciate any and all ideas, suggestions, and gripes. Stay tuned….

So long...goodbye...Auf Wiedersehen...don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out was the previous entry in this blog.

It was probably a Ron Paul supporter who discovered this is the next entry in this blog.
