A little Monday morning Schadenfreude

Tinkering with its early evening lineup for the first time in eight years, Fox News Channel has replaced the John Gibson-hosted “The Big Story” indefinitely. The news was first reported by the blog TVNewser.com and the New York Times. The network said conservative commentator Gibson and his co-host Heather Nauert would continue to play a role in other Fox News Channel programs.

I’m not normally one to revel in the misfortune of another…unless, of course, they’re a Right-wing troll, in which case they’re fair game. Former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener John Gibson of Fox News (WE REPORT! YOU OBEY!). Gibson, best remembered for his bombastic ruminations on the alleged “War on Easter”, is a Grade-A wingnut…or what we in the trade call “a (&^%$#@ idiot” or “a flaming @$$hole”. Somehow, through all the lunacy Gibson has managed to keep his gig on Fox News (hey, it’s worked for Bill O’Reilly). It’s not as if he has anything positive to add to the public discourse…unless you somehow count ignorance, bombast, and intolerance as “positive”.

The news that Gibson is losing at least his television platform is, while certainly good news, really only indicative that yet another troll will take his place. It would be nice to think that FNC’s sagging ratings would set Roger Ailes and his fellow Josef Goebbels wannabes to thinking about how to actually become an honest-to-God news organization instead being a de factor propaganda arm for the Republican Party. Sadly, that’s about as likely to happen as the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in my lifetime.

Perhaps Ailes might give some thought to why Democrats are so reluctant to appear on FNC. D’ya think it might be that they know they just is to play straight man while the FNC anchor ridicules and belittles them? Could it be that they know full well that FNC has no real desire to foster an honest debate? John Gibson is merely one of the most obvious and recognizable blowhards. When your stable includes Brit Hume, Chris Wallace, Shepherd Smith, Bill O’Reilly, etc.- ad infinitum, ad nauseum- you’re not exactly gone to be renowned for impartial journalism.

If there was any justice in this world, Gibson would be lucky to find a paying gig reading the morning news on KRAP in Devils Lake, ND. Conservatives take care of there own, though, so you can bet that Gibson won’t be worrying about where his next Big Mac will be coming from.

Fair and balanced? Sure, if you’re a far-Right survivalist holed up in Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains and you’re convinced that anyone whose beliefs are to the left of yours are of the Devil….
