He's back...and he ain't happy about it....

I have made a very serious mistake a long time ago and I have to live with that every day … That’s not a flippant statement. I need to spend my whole life making up for that … Anybody who looks at the two cases will see there is an enormous difference between the two of them. The people that are trying to draw comparisons to the two cases are people who’ve never agreed with me on important issues like immigration and other things.

For those of you who’d been thinking (and no doubt hoping and praying) that Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has used up his 15:00 and disappeared back into his richly-deserved obscurity…well, guess what? HE’S BAAAACK!! Not only that, he’ll have you know that he’s not at all like former New York Governor (and Democrat) Eliot Spitzer, thank you very much.

Why, you might ask, is Vitter’s situation different from Spitzer’s? On the surface, both cases involves prostitutes and infidelity. Not so different, you say? Well, Vitter would beg to differ, because, being a Republican, he’s apparently received a special dispensation from God or the Pope or somebody imaginary being with a $#!tload of authority (perhaps the Flying Spaghetti Monster?? Apparently, being a Republican sleazeball is not nearly the heinous crime that being a Democratic sleazeball is. Who knew?? I sure as Hell didn’t….

Sometimes I think if it weren’t for double standards, we’d have no standards at all. That David Vitter can say with a straight face and the moral certainty bred by outsized, overcooked hypocrisy that his “indescretions” are not at all like Spitzer’s should make any reasonable person have to fight the urge to engage in some serious projectile vomiting.

Oh, wait…there IS a difference. Spitzer at least had the decency to resign once it became clear that his position was untenable. Vitter, being the inveterate, conscienceless slimebag he is, assumed that a public mea culpa was the same thing as public absolution. Nice try, d——-bag….
