It appears that Republican fortunes really are in the toilet

Many conservative activists have become so dissatisfied with the party’s heresies, particularly on immigration and government spending, that as [Rep. Tom] Cole’s staff took over, the committee’s fund-raising pleas were being ignored and, on at least one occasion, returned in an envelope stuffed with feces.

Man, I am SO glad that I don’t work in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s mailroom. Talk about a shitty job (I know…that cheap shot was WAY too easy, wasn’t it??)…. Yes, if there’s one job even more thankless than being the chairman of the NRCC, it would have to be working in their mailroom right about now- not that there seems to be much of a difference at this point. They’re both pretty shitty jobs.

I’m trying very hard to stifle a giggling fit, because- if you believe in karma like I do- you’ve got to believe that it’s payback time for the GOP . Having run Washington as their own private playground since 2001, the bills for their overwhelming arrogance and corruption are coming due. While I normally try to avoid overt displays of schadenfreude, I’m not certain how long I’m going to be able to hold out. It would be one thing if they’d suffered some sort of horrible tragedy, but this dilemma is purely their own creation. Having treated Democrats and those who think independently (or at least differently) as insignificant and un-American, now it seems that the American sheeple have finally awakened from their propaganda-induced slumber. It’s rather late in the game, to be certain…but better late than never, right?

Power corrupts. Absolute power is…well, kinda fun, really….

Politics, like economics, has a circular lifecycle. What is up must eventually come down, and in Washington this generally means that once a party has been in control long enough to become thoroughly and irretrievably corrupt, they’ll eventually begin their slide down the east side of the bell curve. Now, it’s time Democrats to step forward and claim that they’re the party of change and integrity…and for a time they may well be. In a few years, though, Democrats will be the ones receiving letters filled with human feces…and they’ll probably deserve it. Like Buddhist philosophy, American politics is a circle that ties together life, death, and rebirth.

Same as it ever was….
