Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

I looked in on Wonkette yesterday morning as I usually. I admire snark when it’s wielded with class and bravado, and while I don’t take it to the lengths that their writers do, I’d like to think that I can hold my own when the situation demands it. Imagine my surprise, then, when I cam across the headline:

While I recognize the snarkiness behind this headline, there’s also an element of truth to it. While Hillary Clinton is trying to tear Barack Obama down through negative campaigning and innuendo, John McCain must be laughing in his beer. We’re so caught up in our familial infighting that Democrats- ALL of us- seem to have lost sight of the prize. Isn’t the idea and the goal to wrest control of the White House from the corrupt Republican cabal that has ruled the roost since stealing the 2000 election? And isn’t John McCain more of the same…Bush Lite?

If we don’t manage to pull our collective anterior from our collective posterior, we may well end up winning the battle and yet losing the war. From where I sit, it’s difficult not to blame Hillary Clinton and her surrogates for the current woeful state of the Democratic primary process. There’s plenty of blame to go all around, but it’s the Clinton campaign’s win-at-any-and-all-cost approach that has put us in the situation we find ourselves in.

We’re better than this…aren’t we? And isn’t the real goal to defeat Bush Lite in November? You’d never know it by listening to the propaganda coming out of the Clinton campaign….
