The crazy...it burns!!!

Insane baby-farming robot-herder and sometime Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has a new enemy: fluorescent light bulbs. That’s right. She does not care for these newfangled hippie environmentalist group-sex bulbs, preferring the honest and trustworthy incandescent kind. And now she is taking her case to the American people with her “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act.”

Having apparently solved all of this country’s myriad problem, former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener and general all-around uber-Christian wackjob has now moved on to more prosaic causes- like preserving your absolute, Constitutionally-guaranteed right to use the light bulb of your choice. Hey, isn’t this one of the rights our brave men and women in uniform are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan to preserve? Are we going to let the terrorists win??

Hmm…so choice is not acceptable when it comes to abortion, but it’s an American right when it comes to light bulbs? Sounds as if someone bulb has dimmed, no?

I’m not convinced that legislating a move from incandescent bulbs to carbon fluorescents (CFL) is necessary or wise. There are, after all, unresolved issues regarding CFLs as well- like what happens when a bulb breaks and the highly-toxicmercury contained within escapes? And isn’t this an issue that would seem to call for allowing the free market to sort things out?

“I was just outraged that Congress would want to substitute its judgment for the judgment of the American people,” she said. “It struck me as a massive Big Brother intrusion into our homes and our lives.”

So now she is introducing the pro-incandescent Freedom of Choice Act, which is hilarious because she does not like abortion, or “choice,” as the baby-killers like to call it.

Of course, it’s just a matter of time before someone comes up with the obligatory “How many Congressman does it take to change a light bulb?” joke. In Bachmann’s case, I’m not at all certain I’d want her changing my light bulbs…or anything else. The only way she’d even get in the front door at my place would be if she were drunk and naked…uh, wait…I didn’t really say that, did I??

I’m still not at all certain how Bachmann got elected in the first. The people in Minnesota’s CD6, where I grew up, are generally pretty level-headed and tolerant. Somewhere, the train clearly went off the tracks, and now Bachmann has a forum with which to spread her lunacy in all directions.

Thank GOD we have Rep. Michele Bachmann to stand up for us in the battle to protect our freedom to buy the light bulbs of our choice! Clearly, God is on our side…or may not. Who knows…or really cares?
