'Tis the season for the birds and the bees and the...hip checks?

I love this time of year. Spring is in the air, and this young man's thoughts turn to...well, that's a story for another time. This IS (nominally, at least) a family show, after all. Well, once you get past the sex and the occasional bad language (not to mention the bad attitude) and the unrequited anger...yeah, it really is safe for children- as long as they can't read.

Ah, but I digress. The real reason I love this time of year is that the Stanley Cup playoffs always start around my birthday. Now that the first round is winding down, and things are playing out pretty much to form (except for the Ottawa Senators turtling), I'm in my element. There are few things in sports that I enjoy more than the two magic words: "Game Seven". Since my North Stars left Minnesota 15 years ago, I've gradually become a huge Montreal Canadiens fan...and to a lesser degree, the New York Rangers. Last night I got to see Montreal eliminate Boston 5-0 in game seven of their first round series. The passion and the effort was at a level seldom seen in ANY organized sport, which is why I love playoff hockey.

You know, Portland would be just this sort of Paradise if it could just attract an NHL playoff team....

I hope that we'll be able to discuss things that actually matter was the previous entry in this blog.

If your "religion" can be mentioned in the same breath as "child abuse", you've pretty much forfeited your "right" to parenthood is the next entry in this blog.
