Seems that one person's smut is another person's morning latte. A Christian group out of San Diego has found grounds for outrage over the new retro-style logo for Starbucks Coffee. The Resistance says the new image "has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute," Mark Dice, founder of the group, said in a news release. "Need I say more? It's extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves Slutbucks."
OK...if this is the chief source of outrage in your pointless, miserable existence...well, life must be pretty damn good, no? I mean, just think about all of the things that one could reasonably become righteously exercised over:
- the war in Iraq
- the reality that our economy is circling the drain
- global climate change
- why a $250 million payroll can't buy the New York Yankees a World Series title
- a President who would rather lie, cheat, and steal than lead, rebuild, and inspire
- No Child Left Behind
- why I never get the greem M&Ms
- the growing drumbeat to bomb Iran
I could go on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, but you get the point. If the biggest source of righteous anger in your life is the logo on your coffee cup...well, perhaps you ought to just find another coffee cup. Surprisingly, not everyone shares your narrow-minded, fear-based ignorant ideology, which seems to be based on the premise that all of us are entitled to be forced to goose-step to your tune.
What a sad commentary it is on Christianity when fear-mongering numbnuts like Mark Dice are given their 15 minutes and a soapbox. To me this clearly demonstrates that Dice and his fellow knuckle-draggers understand about as much of the teachings of Jesus Christ as I do about about nuclear fusion.
What Would Jesus Do? Somehow I think (and I hope) he'd be kicking ass and taking names.....
