THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Rick Santorum

Our government in this memo is teaching us a politically correct version of the truth. For example, it tells us that democracy and Islam are compatible. But Islam is less compatible with democracy than is Christianity. Jesus said, "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's." There was from the beginning a recognition of two realms - the sacred and the secular. From Islam's inception there has been one realm. Islamic law (sharia) is the law of the government.

There are times when I really do miss seeing Rick Santorum in the Senate. While he may have finsishedsecond to former Undersecretary of Defense Douglas Feith in the race to be "(&^%$#@ stupidest guy on the face of the planet", Santorum has no reason to hang his head. His Senate career was his careening from one stunning display of ignorance and misogyny to another. His replacement, whose name escapes me (and I'm usually pretty good with this sort of thing), has been a real disappointment in that most of us expect the junior senator from Pennsylvania to be a Grade A dick and willing to say whatever ridiculous thought pops into his pointy li'l haid. The fact the the great state of Pennsylvania now has a senator with a functional intellect and the willingness to keep his powder dry somehow seems like a huge disappointment for those of us who depend on Right-wing nutjobs for entertainment (and, really, how sad is that??).

I was raised to believe that it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth (or worse, put it in writing) and remove all doubt- which really only goes to prove just how horribly and irretrievably boring I am. Santorum, though, has never had a problem with weighing in on issues which he knows nothing of...and understands even less. Thankfully, Li'l Ricky can be one entertaining ink-stained wretch when his gets his motor running. There are days like this- when I have pretty little of any originality to say- when Rick DUMB@$$ Santorum sets my mind to rolling in a way that few other DUMB@$$E$ can.

Santorum's latest ill-informed rant is about the Bush Administration's guidelines regarding using terms like "jihadists", "mujahideen", and "Islamo-fascism" to describe terrorists and their activities. These guidelines, however silly or misguided they may seem, were actually well-intentioned, something not easily or accurate said about anything that's come out of BushWorld over the past eight years.

Li'l Ricky is having none of it, though, and is sparing none of his considerable in letting us know that Islamofascism is really one God's way of letting us know that Islam and democracy are oxymorons. I don't know about the "oxy" part, but I do know who the moron is here....

Damn, but I miss Santorum's unfocused rage and unchecked world-class ignorance. Washington seems like such a sad and lonely place with his sunny disposition to brighten things up.

Uh, Rick?? Hello?? I realize this really isn't your style, but before you go off on the very neoConservative thugs you supported during your time in the Senate, you might just want to be sure you understand what it is your railing against. The Bush Administration's attempt to proscribe the use of certain terms and phrase was designed to ensure that terrorists and their heinous acts of barbarism aren't inadvertently described using terms that are considered positives in the Arab street.

Then again, sober reflection never was your style, was it??

Party on, Garth....
