So, Republicans really do eat their young?

I've been finding myself rather enjoying the demonization/canonization of Scott McClellan over the past few days. I could care less about his book, and I'll buy a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook before I'll spend the $27.95 it costs for a copy of What Happened. I see no reason to support McClellan in his attempt to cash in for telling the truth at the very last minute, when it's guaranteed to do absolutely no good.

Frankly, if I had the opportunity to interview McClellan (and at this point, I'm about the only one who hasn't), I'd be asking him how he can look at himself in the mirror without wanting to puke.

Hey, Scott; more than 4000 Americans are dead...in part because of the propaganda you helped sell to the American sheeple? How do you live with yourself?

You knew that the case for war in Iraq was built on the soft sand of lies, propaganda, and fudged intelligence...and yet you did nothing. Now you're trying to promote a book telling us about the dishonesty and the duplicity. Why couldn't you say something then?

If you knew what was being done in order to sell the idea of war in Iraq to Congress and the American Sheeple, why did you not resign in protest?

I could go on, but you get the point. I admire McClellan for (finally) speaking truth to power, but more than 4,000 young Americans are dead because he couldn't be bothered to be honest (when it might have mattered) about what was being done in order to purchase the war in Iraq that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © so desperately wanted to burnish his legacy.

In the meantime, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching and listening to current and former denizens of BushWorld treat McClellan with the sort of regard they might hold a sexual predator in. It's as if these folks got together and agreed on the talking points they'd use to destroy McClellan's credibility: "That's not the Scott I knew." You can almost hear the tsk-tsk in the voices of the talking heads being trotted out to defend The Worst President EVER © and the "necessity" for the war in Iraq. Poor Scotty; this wasn't the person we knew.

For me, the bottom line is that McClellan's revelations are nothing new...and yet they come late enough that most likely there will be no consequences for those responsible for the lies, the propaganda, and the now more than 4,000 Americans who have returned from Iraq in flag-draped boxes.

Conscience? Doing the right thing? Who cares; there's money to be made....
