Thanks; you've been wonderful. Now go away, willya???

Only an idiot would be willingly ignorant of the mathematical realities involved in the Democratic primary these days...and yet, Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign- broke though it may be- continues spending money like a drunken, hard-working White American. What purpose could this possibly serve at this point...unless HRC is fervently imploring her Evangelical supporters to pray that the Earth will cleave open and swallow Sen. Barack Obama whole, thus clearing the way for another Clinton to set up shop in the White House?

The more I look at the Democratic primary contest, it seems increasingly apparent that it's all about HRC and her unwillingness to let go of her "inevitablity" factor. Time was when she was viewed (and rightfully so) as the "heir apparent" to her husband's reign as one of the greatest Presidents of the modern era. There was no challenger- real, perceived, or anywhere on the horizon- so she had every right to see a clear path in front of her. My, how things change, eh?

Now that she simply can't seem to admit the cold, hard mathematical facts, she continues the negative attacks on Sen. Obama, as if she retains even the barest shred of credibility at this point. Her recent remarks about being the candidate with greater support among "hard-working Americans, White Americans" and those White Americans who never finished college is ludicrous at best, and highly offensive at worst. Playing the race card really is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

On top of everything else, I'm tired of he "woulda...coulda...shoulda" arguments still being foisted upon us by various and assorted well-meaning, if completely misguided, Clintonistas. "If we were playing by Republican rules." "Caucus states really shouldn't count." "We must count Florida and Michigan so that every vote is counted". What a load of crap, y'all. The rules are what they are, and you knew this going into the game. We're NOT playing by Republican rules. Caucus states DO count; that fact that HRC did poorly in most of them does NOT render their results irrelevant. Florida and Michigan are hosed because their state Democratic parties CHOSE to ignore DNC rules when they moved their primary dates up (never mind that HRC, along with Sen. Obama, signed a pledge acknowledging that because Michigan refused to play by the rules, their primary would not count, and their delegates would not be seated at the Democratic convention.)

The Clinton campaign has displayed a disturbing trend of being willing to play by the rules of the game- only so long as the results trended their way. She and her supporters are still trotting every lame argument, scenario, spin and propaganda points that can be made to support HRC's continued and alleged viability. Jeebus, people...enough already. How 'bout y'all just be adult enough to admit defeat? Sometimes things just don't go the way you'd like them to. Once y'all grow up and decide to deal with reality in a mature and purposeful manner...well, perhaps then we can get down to the real business of winning back the White House (and this country) in November.

Or is really just all about winning at any and all costs regardless of the will of Democratic voters?

As if I really need to answer that....

...and "hard-working White people" at that.... ;-) was the previous entry in this blog.

And to think that I once respected these people is the next entry in this blog.
