When a publication with a decidedly Liberal bent such as the New Yorker thinks it perfectly acceptable to engage in character assassination such as this, Conservatives must be thanking their lucky stars. After all, why not take it easy while Liberals and Democrats do their dirty work for them? Why not sit back and let the left eat their young? No publication would present John and Cindy McCain in this light...so why is it acceptable to slander Barack and Michelle Obama in this manner? Then again, in a nation where 12% of Americans still think Obama is a Muslim and 39% believe that he was sworn into the Senate using a Koran, it really is all about getting sheeple to believe that Obama's an America-hating Muslim, isn't it?
Yes, I can understand that perhaps someone at the New Yorker saw this as parody, perhaps even as satire. What they likely neglected to consider, though, is that most of the American Sheeple simply don't view politics in these subtle shades of grey. No, for the vast majority of the unthinking masses, votes are cast based on emotion and reaction, NOT considered, rational, and dispassionate thought. How long before this cover shows up on ads from Right-wing "527" groups "unaffiliated" with the McCain campaign?

I actually heard them this morning on CNN's "American Morning". Granted, not the most authoritative source, but I've seen similar figures in other places. The reality is that, whatever the exact numbers are, we're a nation of (&^%$#@ morons....
