I looked at the weather section in The Oregonian this morning and saw that the high yesterday in Houston was 98 degrees. Lord only knows what the humidity was. Meanwhile, here in Portland, it was warm- 90 degrees- but the humidity was low. Hmm...gee, where would I rather be during the summer?? The highs beginning Monday are supposed to be in the low 80s with low humidity. I could learn to like this...in fact, I already have.
Today is one of those days when I wake up, look outside at the brilliant sunshine, and find myself glad to be alive. My apartment isn't air-conditioned (most residences here aren't), but it's still comfortable, and it's rather refreshing to be able to have my patio door open. Do that in Houston, and if the humidity doesn't kill you, the mosquitoes will. Ah, but this isn't about Houston; I've been there, done that, and frankly, I'd rather celebrate where I am than where I was. So while all y'all in Houston spend your Sunday moving from one air-conditioned environment to another, I think I'm going to celebrate my weekend by being outside on another long training walk. Perhaps I'll start by adding to yesterday's sunburn.
Cheers....
Party on, Garth....
