OK, it's official: it's long since past time to get over yourselves

o-bama.jpgOK, so let's just get it out of the way right off the bat, shall we? Yes, Hillary Clinton ran a historic campaign. Yes, Hillary Clinton got 18 million votes. No, HIllary Clinton didn't win. That happens in politics sometimes. Every now and again, you try hard, you do your best, you spend a buttload of money...and you lose. Yeah, it sucks, especially when you think that you deserve better. Hillary Clinton and those of you who supported have every right to be disappointed...but, you know what? It's time for all y'all to get over yourselves and get behind Barack Obama...because what's important here is defeating John McCain in Novemer, NOT your petty vindictiveness, your bruised ego, and your (misguided) sense of noblesse oblige. Y'all need to somehow summon the maturity and the foresight to recognize that this election is about far more than you and your overwhelming disappointment. It's about taking our country back...and it's going to be difficult to do that if y'all are voting for John McCain out of spite. Grow up, already....

The fact that HRC's last name is Clinton did not, despite what she and her supporters might believe, guarantee her the right to ascend to the throne. What we have here in America is representative democracy- NOT a monarchical line of succession. If you get more votes and win more contests during primary season, you win your party's nomination. It doesn't get much simpler than that, eh? Clinton ran, won a number of important states, but in the end she lost to a candidate who simply did a better job of organizing and clearly presenting his message to Democrats nationwide.

If you supported Hillary Clinton, you have my condolences. It's not easy to lose. Nonetheless, there has to come a time when you realize that the ultimate goal is bigger than your disappointment and hurt feelings. If you're seriously considering voting for John McCain instead of Barack Obama, you clearly do not understand what your own candidate based her campaign on and what she stands for. If you're foolish enough to throw your lot in with John McCain out of spite...well, don't you think that's just about the most immature response imaginable? You'd rather elect a Republican who would perpetuate the incompetence and ineptitude of the past eight years than to work to elect a Democrat who has pledged to change the way Washington takes care of the People's business? Good Lord, people...get a grip, willya??

Don't you think it's time you got over yourselves? You're hurt and your're angry; I get that. You're disappointed; hey, I understand. But get with the program, willya? We have a legitimate opportunity to take this country back...and you're sulking because you're candidate didn't win, because you think the White House is rightfully hers? GET. OVER. YOURSELVES. STOP YOUR WHINING. And get behind Barack Obama already, because he's philosophically a lot closer to Hillary Clinton than John McCain could ever hope to be. If you're a Democrat, and you care about what the Democratic Party stands for, WHY are you considering voting for an empty suit like John McCain?

WE DESERVE BETTER. And so do you.
