When you get right down to it, Conservatives just aren't funny

The movie includes a scene in which O'Reilly follows the fictional Moore into a bathroom stall and slaps him.

I'm wondering if there could possibly be anything less funny than the above scenario? Nope, no homoerotic overtones here, y'all...nothing to see here...move along, people....

Jeebus, if this is what passes for humor among Conservatives...well, no wonder their political prospects are in such dire stratis. I'm not certain I could think of anything less funny than Bill O'Reilly following anyone into a bathroom stall...except for perhaps the video of Saddam Hussein's hanging. There's something about Conservatives and humor that just don't seem to go together. Case in point: Dennis Miller. Remember when he actually used to be funny? Then he became Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader's © favorite "butt boy" (apologies to Al Franken)...and voila!...now it takes at least four beers before Miller even elicits so much as a chuckle.

Remember The Half-Hour News Hour? Yes, Faux News Channel's horribly lame attempt at aping The Daily Show lasted about three days before it died a horrible and painfully unfunny death. Why are Conservatives so incapable of humor? Who knows, but they do seem particularly ill-suited for being anything except the butt of jokes.Perhaps if they spent less time in engaging in self-parody, they might actually be able to figure out how to be funny.

Then again, I'm still not sure I'd be able to laugh. When you consider that, at it's most basic, Conservatism is the fear that someone somewhere is having fun, it doesn't take much to figure out that this mindset doesn't really lend itself to humor...except perhaps in the role of straight man. Then again, if you think Bill O'Reilly isn't funny (albeit unwittingly and unintentionally), all you have to do is watch Keith Olbermann.
