If this isn't a sign from above of increasing irrelevance, I don't know what would be

I'm not about to play the Michael Moore card and claim that Hurricane Gustav is divinely-inspired judgement directed against Republicans...but it is tempting, Having been through a couple of hurricanes and several tropical storms, I'm not about to use Gustav for cheap humor. It is gratifying to see that even Republicans realize that there are things of far greater importance than a political convention.

it's not as if I was going to watch the GOP convention, anyway. Frankly, I'd rather watch rats mating than listen to clueless, self-absorbed Republicans wax rhapsodic in self-congratulation over the triumph of Conservatism. No, the hurricane ruining the Republican's party may not be divine retribution, but in this case I'm not above engaging in some well-placed Schadenfreude.

Having gone to college, in St. Paul, MN, I'd imagine that city fathers are bemoaning there fate. Having put a lot of time, energy, and money into preparing for the GOP Bacchanal Convention, it now looks like their party may never really get off the ground. Damn the bad luck.... ;-)
