No, it's not Paradise, but it ain't Houston, either

Welcome to September, my favorite time of year here in Portland. The weather for the past week or so has been AMAZING...warm, dry...and if it was like this year-round, 15 million would live here and traffic would be a nightmare.

The highs for the past week or so have been in the 70s, the humidity has been low, and the wind just strong enough to make being outside very comfortable. After 3722 days living on the Texas Gulf Coast (not that I was counting), I can actually sit outside without being assaulted by humidity or mosquitoes.

There's a stretch of about six weeks from early September into mid-October which makes living here as close to Paradise as you can get without the palm trees, the tropical breezes, and the cases of Corona. The mornings and the evenings have a chill to them, but late mornings and afternoons are comfortable and refreshing and, if you have an office job, maddeningly inviting.

Happy Monday, y'all!! It's going to be another prettydamnclosetoperfect day here in Portland. Nope, no hurricanes headed our way!

And did I mention that the Vikings are playing the evil, blood-sucking Packers tonight on Monday Night Football? Could things get any better??
