Georgia Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland used the racially-tinged term "uppity" to describe Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Thursday. Westmoreland was discussing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech with reporters outside the House chamber and was asked to compare her with Michelle Obama.... "Just from what little I've seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they're a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they're uppity," Westmoreland said. Asked to clarify that he used the word "uppity," Westmoreland said, "Uppity, yeah."
Well, well...the shock, I suppose, is that it took a prominent Republican until September to break out the racial code words. Not that Republicans haven't already frequently alluded to the race issue in an effort to scare the American Sheeple into voting for John McCain. I suppose the challenge for Republicans going forward will be to devise new and different ways to raise Obama's undeniable blackness in an effort to convince good, God-fearing White Folks not to even THINK about voting for Barack HUSSEIN Obama...without actually delving into outright racism.
Oh, and did we mention that John McCain was a POW for 5 1/2 years??
