Time was when we used to be able to have a reasoned, rational discussion of issues without dipping our toes in the fetid pool of racially-tinged lunacy. Or am I just living in my own little dream world again?? The above graphic was posted here, by an intellectual and moral midget clearly unable to conduct or tolerate a reasoned and reasonable philosophical debate without sliding into cheap personal and racially-tinged broadsides. I first saw this last night, posted my own comment essentially ripping him a new one (which certainly made me feel better, but ultimately likely accomplished nothing of value). This morning, the post is gone...and the Libertarian Paleo-Knuckledragger is, as you might expect, blaming "the left" for completely missing the point. Hmm...nooses, racism, cheap and gratuitous arguments based on ignorance, fear, and reaction? Jeebus, y'all; what else might I be missing here??
Well, it is gone. I'll tell you why. The point of the posting was being lost and the post itself was becoming the story. Which I never wanted to happen.
The point is, I made the far left have a knee jerk reaction. I also gave them something to talk about.
Again, as I stated in the actual posting itself, I never, ever wished any harm come to Obama, at all. I was simply making a point and doing exactly what the left is doing to Sarah Palin.
Yeah, right. We're doing the same thing to Sarah Palin? We don't have to do ANYTHING to Sarah Palin, because whatever it is that's being done she's doing to herself. Those of us on the Left are not responsible for the lies, the propaganda, and the cheap innuendo Mooselini continues to spew during her stump speeches. We're not responsible for Troopergate and her clear and egregious abuse of her power in conducting a personal vendetta in her capacity as Governor of Alaska. And we're certainly not responsible for the fact that Palin's negatives are spiking upward. Caribou Barbie is her own worst enemy, and she's become a drag on John McCain's Presidential aspirations, which now appear to following the same route to the bottom as the Titanic
People that would post racist crap like this, and then act as if all they're doing is trying to spark an honest debate, make me sick. They also make me realize that democracy is often an extremely poorly-conceived idea. When people like this are allowed to spew their ignorance and hatred unchecked, we ALL suffer. The problem, of course, is that while democracy is a horribly imperfect system that all too often caters to the lowest common denominator, the alternatives are far worse. Sometimes the devil you know....
