It's really quite simple when you break things down scientifically...don'tchathink??

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Bill O'Reilly

O'REILLY: So you can see the debate over gay marriage is now a full fledge national battle. As talking points said last night the election of Barack Obama has emboldened secular progressives who feel it is their time. Gay marriage just the beginning. Other cultural war issues will also be in display very shortly. These include limiting gun possession, legalizing narcotics, unrestricted abortion and the revocation of the Patriot Act.

You see, when you look at this sort of thing in a purely scientific manner, you can clearly see that we're at the beginning of a Librul daisy chain, one cleverly designed to hide the nefarious LIBERAL AGENDA from us. Thank GOD for Bill O'Reilly, without whom we sheep-like, knukle-dragging imbeciles would be left completely unaware of what those evil, Godless Libruls are planning to foist upon us.

Jeebus, what a (&^%$#@ maroon....

The issue of same-sex marriage has nothing to do with us secular Progressives feeling as if it's our time- which, by the way, IT IS. That, though, is a separate issue altogether. No, this is about fairness. It's about happiness. It's about stability and commitment. It's about civil rights. It's certainly NOT about about standing idly by while those who peddle hatred, fear, and ignorance convince themselves that they have the absolute right to force their morality upon those they detest...and the rest of the American Sheeple easily influenced by lies, propaganda, and fear-mongering.

THEY'RE TRYING TO RECRUIT YOUR CHILDREN! THEY'RE LURKING IN SCHOOL BATHROOMS!! THEY'RE TRYING TO FORCE THEIR EVIL, NEFARIOUS CAMPAIGN FOR SPECIAL RIGHTS ON US!!! THEY WANT TO HAVE WHAT WE HAVE!!!! WE CAN'T ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN...CAN WE??? NO, WE CAN'T!!

Bill O'Reilly defending Mormons who organized and funded the campaign to pass Proposition 8 is the worst sort of brain-dead propaganda. To tie equal rights to a twisted bastardization of some evil, imaginary "Liberal agenda" only serves to spread the sort of ignorance and lunacy that O'Reilly has built his career on. IF Progressives decide to pursue the other "culture war" issues that have O'Reilly foaming at the mouth, it will be for reasons that have nothing to do with the controversy surrounding the issue of same-sex marriage. It will be because we think that there are changes that need to be made- and instead of fear-mongering and appealing to people's baser instincts, we'll make a sound, rational argument for those changes. Conservative zealots like O'Reilly engage in fear-mongering and propaganda because it's frankly easier than constructing an argument and then attempting to convince Americans of the wisdom and rectitude of that argument.

Those who supported Prop 8 will wax philosophical about how we lost the election and now it's time for us to stop whining. Democracy worked; kwityerbitchin.... This, of course, completely ignores the reality that the Religious Right has continually returned to the well until they finally managed to get the result they wanted. Now that they have, of course the rest of us are expected to mere bow to the power and wisdom of representative democracy. Ah, hypocrisy; thou art truly a piece of work....

Now it's the turn of those of us who believe in decency, fairness, and equal (not SPECIAL) rights for all Americans. It's time for those of us who believe that the haters and the religious zealots have NO right to force their narrow, ignorant agenda down our throats to stand up and be counted. It's time that we demand that African-Americans remember their own Civil Rights struggle and lose the hypocrisy that led so many of them to vote for Prop 8.

Americans who happen to be homosexual deserve the same rights to achieve their version of happiness and commitment that heterosexuals do. No one's asking for "special" rights. Until equal rights are assured for ALL Americans, then equal rights exist for NONE of us. The tyranny of the majority does not make that tyranny right or fair.

WE DESERVE BETTER...and Bill O'Reilly can kiss my @$$. Anyone who can tie same-sex marriage to the Patriot Act with a straight face should skip the formalities and go straight to Hell.
