Being ignorant of history makes it no less real or true

"Richard Nixon's crimes were committed purely in the interest of his own political gain," Mr. Wallace told Mr. Howard before an audience of a few hundred after viewing the filmmakers new film "Frost/Nixon," which is about the only U.S. president to resign from office.... "I think to compare what Nixon did, and the abuses of power for pure political self preservation, to George W. Bush trying to protect this country -- even if you disagree with rendition or waterboarding -- it seems to me is both a gross misreading of history both then and now," Mr. Wallace said.

With his time in office mercifully winding to it's the inevitable denouement, Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © seems increasingly wistful about what he's done to set this country back. To make matters worse, there are those in the media who seem to think that their job is to defend The Worst President EVER © from an honest assessment of his job performance and his role in history.

The history books will, of course, be written down the road, and normally some chronological distance is required to attain anything resembling perspective. History tends to be kinder to Presidents the more time passes, and I'd imagine that the same will hold true for The Decider ©. It's unfortunate, because I'm here to tell you that I believe that this President deserves to be held accountable for the myriad ways in which he and his criminal Administration have thoroughly (&^%$# things up.

Yeah, like THAT'S going to happen....

No, Commander Codpiece © is not Richard Nixon. To his credit, he's engaging in a whole different subset of criminal and immoral behavior.

President Bush issued an executive order "that denies collective bargaining rights to about 8,600 federal employees who work in law enforcement, intelligence and other agencies responsible for national security." 900 of the employees affected were already represented by collective bargaining units. Colleen Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, said that employees "had their collective bargaining rights stripped away for no justifiable reason."

This is but one egregious and recent example of the agenda pursued by this sorry excuse for a President and his neoConservative thugs. Whether most of this behavior is criminal may be a subject for historians to debate. What seems indisputable, however, is the reality, that the past eight years have seen steady, eroding attacks on the rights of workers, minorities, the
