Sure the economy's in the toilet; what's up with Katie's hair??

You'd think that, with all of the truly messed-up things going on around us, the Huffington Post could limit itself to a serious discussion of serious issues. Yeah, right...this ranks right up there with the monumental debate over whether CNN's John Roberts was being insufficiently serious in going tieless on the set of the network's "American Morning" program. Yep, this is what we've come to. Our government is throwing trillions at failing industries and financial institutions while our media discusses whether going tieless is indicative of insufficient gravitas

It's not bad enough that someone with editorial responsibility thinks that Katie Couric's hair is an issue worth devoting column inches to. It gets worse, though; we're also treated to a retrospective of Couric's past hair styles. And how come we never had this sort of debate when Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, or Dan Rather changed hairstyles?

We've come a long ways, baby. Or not.

Jeebus...how 'bout y'all just shoot me now and put me out of my misery??
