Yes, journalism died in 2008...but not for the reasons Sean Hannity thinks

HANNITY: If you don't listen to talk radio, if you don't watch the FOX News Channel, you're not anywhere nearly as informed as people that are just hearing the bumper stickers, the slogans, the snippets of the commercials of the media. So, journalism died in 2008, and it influenced a lot of people on the way out.

It should go without having to be said, but the mere fact that you've been given a soapbox from which to bloviate doesn't mean that you actually have anything worthwhile to say. This salient fact, of course, has long since been lost on Sean Hannity, who long ago fell in love with the sound of his own voice and his own self-professed brilliance. Like Ugly American tourists who think that the way to make oneself better understood in a foreign country is to raise their voice, Hannity and his ilk seem to equate bluster with gravitas.

What I loved about Hannity's sound bite, and what Keith Olbermann beat me to was that "if you don't watch the FOX News Channel, you're not anywhere nearly as informed as people that are just hearing the bumper stickers" is more true he realizes. I just wonder if Hannity realizes that he managed to insult those who regularly watch Faux News Channel. Unfortunately, judging by the silence resulting from Hannity's verbal vomit, it appears that it zipped right past his drooling sycophants.

Ignorance. Y'all have it. LOADS of it.

UPDATE: I announced previously that WWJD is now a Bill O'Reilly-free zone. Today I'm here to tell you that I'm adding Sean Hannity to that list. I'm tired of giving free publicity to the Human Colostomy Bag, and I want to begin focusing on more positive things. I'm tired of people who add nothing and whose primary contribution seems to be ignorance, reaction, and the willingness to tear things down. Their time has passed, and while people like Hannity still have a significant, aggressively ignorant, following, I most certainly am not one of them.

Besides, skewering Sean Hannity is like firing at the broad side of a barn from point-blank range....
