When I need to find someplace quiet to ponder my place in the world or just to get away from the noise, more often than not I'll head up to the Pittock Mansion in Portland. The view is unparalleled, the peace and quiet is something to behold, and it's a place I find myself drawn to during difficult, stressful times. With the recent (unseasonal) run of clear, dry weather we've had lately, I went back up to the Pittock Mansion last weekend. OK, so it was 29 degrees and the windchill up there had to be close to zero; still, it had it's usual calming effect on me. I took a few pictures while I was up there, so I thought I'd share them with y'all. I may not be a particularly good photographer, but I can capture what I need to, and on a day like this one...well, let's just say that days like this are one of the big reasons I live here and love it as I do. There was no place I could find in Houston that spoke to me like this.
