Memo to the GOP: Ronald Reagan is still dead

I'll have to admit that I didn't (read: "couldn't") force myself to sit through Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's response to President Obama's speech last night. I've seen bits and pieces of it rehashed on cable news shows, but even with that I can't help but feel as if I've heard this story before- "Government BAD. Democrats EVIL. Tax Cuts GOOD." After eight years of inept, self-interested, self-absorbed "leadership", Republicans are STILL claiming that they know what's best for this country? And invoking the memory of Ronald Reagan is supposed to give us a warm, fuzzy feeling and make us yearn for the simpler times when it was Morning in America ©, when we lived in the Shining City on the Hill © and demanded "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"?

Uh, yeah, Ronald Reagan...wasn't he the guy who laid a wreath at an SS cemetery in Bitburg, Germany?? Just saying....

I understand and respect Gov. Jindal's right to believe as he sees fit, but the reality is that Republicans had eight years...and they thoroughly screwed the pooch. NOW he wants to act as if they've figured things out, they now have the answers, and it's about...wait for it...TAX CUTS?? No one seems to be buying it, not even members of his own party. How pathetic is that? Apparently, those who don't know history really are condemned to repeat it. Somewhere far, far away, Georges Santayana is spinning furious in his grave.

Uh, Governor? Ronald Reagan's recession called and asked me to tell you to either lead, follow, or get the Hell off the bus, 'kay?? That will be all.
