And you wonder why Western Civilization is in free fall....

"Pole dancing without the removal of clothes is like Ivy League basketball -- all fundamentals, no dunks. Not that I wanted them to take off their clothes. Some were older than my mom."

I'm all for anyone who pursues their passion to the best of their ability. After all, who am I to ridicule someone for chasing their dreams? Still, when your dream includes the words "pole dancing"...well, shouldn't that be taken as proof that perhaps you've got WAY too much time on your hands?

The fact that a woman could (or would) reasonably aspire to become Miss US Pole Dance 2009 simply defies rational explanation. What, you couldn't get a spot in the World Series of Solitaire? Unable to qualify for the International Child Molestation Championships? Pole dancing? Sure, why not?? The fact that there is actually a US Pole Dancing Championship should serve as proof that perhaps there really is hope for this country...for it would seem that American ingenuity truly knows no bounds.

Full disclosure: I was asked to serve as a judge at this year's competition (and a contestant on Dancing With The Stars), but I decided to respectfully decline. You try explaining (while maintaining a straight face) to the woman in your life that you've been asked to serve as a judge at a pole dancing competition. Good luck with that one, eh? Yeah, I know; I couldn't see my way clear to doing it, either.

The again, this being America, how long will it be before someone tries to make a go of a professional pole dancing league? My God, I just LOVE this country.... ;-)
