I didn't know that "hypocrisy" could be spelled with "G", "O", and "P"

The Internet is about 97.8% porn. It is impossible to avoid it. Children must be kept away from computers, lest they click upon some innocent smiley-face graphic that inevitably leads to "Adult Friend Finder.".... But if you've ever wondered who actually pays to see what most people spend all day at work trying to avoid, lest they be fired during this awful Greatest Depression, now you know: Sarah Palin supporters, jesus goblins and other Red State fools. Utah is the nation's biggest buyer of porno "subscriptions."

Let me just begin by saying that I could care less what one does at the privacy of one's own keyboard. What just KILLS me, though, is that there are people out there actually PAYING for porn. Really, y'all; anyone who's spent more than about 20 minutes on da Interweb knows where the evil, blood-sucking porn can be acquired for the low, low price of...Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero. 'Taint rocket science, knowhutimean??

Perhaps the funniest aspect of this dark, seamy underside of the human condition (Sex. All of us want it; it just seems that damn few of us are getting any.) is that those who rail against the evils of pornography are the biggest consumers of the aforementioned evil. Yes, it seems that hypocrisy truly is the one characteristic that goes hand in glove with Conservative ideology.

Porn is something that evokes strong feelings in some. In some cases, an argument can be made that porn is founded upon the exploitation and objectification of women for their sexuality. Well, here's some news for all y'all who seem to think that the expression of sexuality is a bad thing: porn is here to stay. Sex and sexuality is a core component of the human condition; you can no more deny or repress it than you can decide to stop eating. The key lies, I suppose, in somehow managing to maintain a healthy perspective. I love sex as much as, perhaps more than, the next person, and I understand the power that an active, healthy libido can wield over an individual. Lord knows I deal with that on a daily basis, just like most of the human race. What I'm not willing to do is to allow myself to become caught up in the hypocritically Conservative idea that sex and sexuality is somehow evil and dirty...and best enjoyed on a 24" computer monitor in the privacy of your own home. Fantasy is a good thing if enjoyed in moderation and with the proper perspective. Repressing that does no one any good...though it does make for some entertaining copy on occasion (et tu, Larry Craig??).

In the meantime, will y'all just stop giving your credit card information out like it's a breath mint? Jeebus, y'all...if you really want to economize, trying not spending money on porn. If you want to know where the good (and free) stuff is, just ask any 12-year-old boy. They've probably got a better handle on it than any of us...which, if you allow yourself to think about it for any length of time, probably doesn't bode well for the future of this great nation, eh??

In the meantime, trying losing the faux outrage, willya??
