You would have thought that, after eight years of corruption, ineptitude, and criminal malfeasance, the denizens of BushWorld would have slithered back under their rocks to pray that they might avoid prosecution. Yeah, well...you would have been WAY wrong. Apparently, most of these same trolls are having trouble finding work (Gee, no one wants to hire thugs? Whodathunkit??), so now they have WAY too much time on their hands. It would seem that too many of them, and Ari Fleischer is perhaps the worst example, have taken it on as their personal mission to revise history and thereby cast George W. Bush in the best possible light. Yes, it seems that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © was both benevolent AND glorious. We just haven't learned that yet. Enter Josef Goebbels Ari Fleischer (and no, the irony of using a Nazi propagandist in the same sentence as a Jewish propagandist has NOT been lost on me)
I'm not going to argue Fleischer's point that the world is a better place without Saddam Hussein in it. It is- but that's not the point here...and if Flesicher doesn't understand that, he's more of a demagogue than I'd feared. What pisses me off to no end is his insistence on tying Hussein to 9.11 with the barest shred of (long-since refuted) evidence. The truth seems to matter less than the incessant repetition of vapid talking points and propaganda, as if the very act of repetition makes them true. Then again, Fleischer and the many other neoConservative thugs who populated BushWorld seem to have take more than a few cues from Josef Goebbels. After eight years of the Big Lie, it's become the gift that keeps on giving.
Despite Fleischer's assertions to the contrary, Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9.11. That boat never left the dock. No evidence has been found to support this propaganda...not that anything like the truth would ever get between Fleischer and his talking points. Insisting that Bush made America safe because we haven't been attacked since 9.11 is an assertion that barely even merits acknowledgement. Ignored in Fleischer's propaganda spiel is the reality that the Bush Administration had ample warning that something was up prior to 9.11...and yet they did nothing with the information. Does this mean they could have prevented 9.11? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to look back and say that yes, our government did everything within it's powers and abilities? Instead, they dawdled and fiddled and ignored information that, had it gotten into corrects hands, might just have save more than 3000 American lives. Sadly, this didn't happen, and now we're left with Ari Fleischer spinning history as if his life (and his livelihood) depended on it. This is the very definition of disgusting.
Frankly, this makes me want to vomit. Ari Fleischer just pissed on the graves of 3000 innocent American civilians...and all he cares about is scoring political points and revising history. I can only hope that there's a reserved parking space in Hell with his name on it.
