The other day, Mom said, "Notice anything different about me?" I checked her out: snow-white hair, hockey jersey, jeans, high heels. I said, "Only thing different about you, Mom, is that you're looking younger than ever." And she said, "Nope. I'm carrying a concealed weapon."
Having no relationship with my family, Mother's Day has always been a rather sad day for me. Rather than feeling sorry for myself, though, I'm trying to find the humor in it all. Frankly, if I was to celebrate Mother's Day, it would have to look a lot like this. For those us you fortunate enough to have a family to celebrate, Happy Mother's Day! Cherish what you have...if only because there are a lot of us out here not nearly so blessed. May the sun shiner just a little bit warmer on all mothers today...and every day.
