There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
- Douglas Adams
I can see where online social networking may be of some value, but I don't think that it will come as a shock that it can also get pretty silly sometimes. When you're on Facebook and you run across the Toilet Paper Debate Poll...well, you've just got to know that you've entered some sort of alternate reality. That anyone can with any degree of seriousness vote on whether a roll of toilet paper should spin out from the bottom or the top really only means that you've got too damn much time on your hands.
The Internet has succeeded in making our world a much smaller- and sillier- place. Perhaps the two go hand in hand to some degree, but if you can engage in a debate about toilet paper, don't you think it's about time you turn off your computer and spend some quality time with your family?
Just a rambling thought on a sleepless Monday morning. Man, talk about having too much time on your hands.... ;-)
