Land of the free...as long as you're straight (and narrow)

How is that that, four-plus decades after the Civil Rights Era achieved legal (if not actual) equality for African-Americans, we still tolerate open and legal discrimination against an entire minority class of Americans? And how sad is it that far too many African-Americans, who you'd think would know from oppression and discrimination, openly and freely approve of this sort of discrimination? Ultimately, if any American is treated as a second-class citizens and denied the rights and benefits that accrue to the majority, aren't we all oppressed? Aren't we better than this?

WE DESERVE BETTER. And Lord knows the LGBT community, who mostly just want to be left alone to live and love as they choose, deserves far better than we've been willing to give them.
