Being incompetent, evil, and imperial is OK- if you're a Republican

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Mark Levin and Pamela Geller

If Palin is anything like I think she is (know she is), Obama's treasonous presidency is responsible for this. She, like all patriotic Americans, is shocked by what is happening. Obama is destroying this country. She knows it. We all know it. We need a leader. She is answering our call. She did not quit. She is going to get into the fight to save America. Watch what happens.

The President, you know, they just put Bernie Madoff away for life; the President's policies are Bernie Madoff times a thousand. He is taking a wrecking ball to this society. The American people love this country. They love its institutions; they revere the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. What the President is peddling is something utterly foreign. He's dragging us into what de Toqueville called a 'soft tyranny.' And really I don't know what the limits are on the power of the presidency anymore. They used to call Bush an imperial president, which was ridiculous, this is a real, live imperial president, who wants to dictate light bulbs to what medicines you get, to student loans and credit card interest rates. He doesn't have the constitutional authority to be doing all these things.

I can understand the idea of disagreement. After all, dissent, to my way of thinking, is one of the hallmarks of patriotism. Democracy can make for some messy arguments and disagreements. What I fail to understand, though, especially after the previous eight years of the Reign of Error ©, is how so many on the Far Right can ascribe such evil intentions to Barack Obama. Talk about selective ignorance. For eight years, Conservatives ignored an immoral and illegal war that claimed increasing numbers of our sons and daughters. (Of course, it was OK- as long as someone else's sons and daughters were doing the fighting and dying.) They stood mutely by while our international standing and reputation was groud into dust. They turned the other direction while The Worst President EVER © ran our economy aground. Where was the outrage then? Oh, wait; he was a Republican...so I suppose it's OK, right?

Now we have a President determined to clean up the mess left behind by the BushWorld...and Conservatives are screaming about Socialism and an Imperial Presidency? Are they trying to be funny, or is this just a case of unintentional and misdirected humor? It's hard to imagine that folks so ostensibly intelligent could be...well, so (&^%$#@ stupid, but there you have it.

I accept the reality that those on the Right view our world through a different lens. What I refuse to accept is a view of reality that's so...well, unreal. I can't imagine how a reasonable, intelligent observer could take a look around without concluding that this country is a mess. That we were led to this place by a President who can only fairly be described as evil, venal, and incompetent seems self-evident...and it's not as if seeing this requires translation. It's about as plain as the nose on your face.

People like Mark Levin and Pamela Geller really ought to wake up and smell the cat litter. WE DESERVE BETTER.
