Today's signs that the Apocalypse is upon us (Portland edition)

....This just in: Portland Mayor Sam Adams has a complete lack of judgment and integrity. Gee, d'ya think it had anything to do with perhaps having sex with a 17-year-old boy?? Can't a mayor get his schwerve on??

....Portland's a pretty "live and let live" kind of place...until you become successful and someone decides it's time to knock you down a peg or two. And you wonder why this place has a reputation for being such a provincial backwater at times....

....If you were in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square very late Monday night, you got to see a free "show" by Dave Chappelle. Damn, why do I miss all the really cool stuff? I told four people...and they told four people....

....Portland's Highland Games! Watch large men handling stiff poles!!

....How sad have things become when you're reduced to celebrating the news that Oregon's unemployment rate has leveled off...at 12.2%??

....Here's something you don't hear much 'round these parts anymore: a local arts organization ending it's season in the black. Sounds like someone's not trying very hard.

....We're #1!! Portland has the highest per capita proportion of homeless people in the nation. Gov. Ted Kulongoski should be SO proud....

....OMG!!!! Health care reform !! Big Government!! Socialism!! Big Government!! Inefficiency!! Liberals!! Socialism!!

....Come on, Blazers fans...how could you not love a player named "Pooh"?

....OK, y'all...here's your last chance to vote in Willamette Week's "Best of Portland" poll. This is how democracy is supposed to work, right??
