...and Jesus wept

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Steven L. Anderson

MS: You want all gay people to be executed, correct?

SA: That is correct. It is what the Bible teaches.

MS: If somebody were to go out with a machine gun and spray down a crowd of gay and lesbian people, would you think that was okay?

SA: , I would not think it's okay because I believe in due process.

MS: Would that person be a murderer?

SA: No, I would not judge them as a murderer, no....

MS: You know, I'm gay..I'm gay, and I don't molest any children. What do you think of that?

SA: Well, I'd say you're lying.

MS: You think i must be molesting children, right?

SA: Exactly, right.

MS: Do you pray that I'll die tonight?

SA: If you're a homosexual, I hope you get brain cancer like Ted Kennedy.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. It's not Christianity I have a problem with, it's Christians like Steven L. Anderson. I grew up Lutheran, and I was force-fed Christianity for years in Sunday School. Of course, I'm no theologian, but somewhere along the line, I'd have to guess that Anderson slept through the "love thy neighbor...." lecture in divinity school. It may be entertaining to ridicule someone as mind-numbingly ignorant as Anderson, but there's a frightening aspect to this as well. There's nothing funny about the idea of advocating that a human being be executed simply because of who they choose to love. That Anderson feels he has the perfect right to assert this should send a chill up the spine of any freedom-loving American.

"Christians" such as Anderson who preach hate and murder are a blight upon those good and decent Christians who actually endeavor to live their faith and following the teachings of Jesus Christ. It's a free country, and while I'm not a Christian, even I'll admit to the reality that Christianity has a lot to offer. To quote Elvis Costello, what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

I can respect (if not understand) Anderson's right to his beliefs, but how is it that advocating the execution of homosexuals doesn't attract the attention of law enforcement? The federal government is all over Left-wing groups such as Earth First as they wreak havoc on public and private property. Yet Anderson, who openly advocates executing homosexuals, is left alone to spread his hate? Since when is openly advocating violence considered protected free speech?

Why Anderson seems to feel empowered to force his narrow, hateful belief system on others is beyond me. If he's so inflexibly opposed to homosexuality...well, there's nothing out there that requires him to engage in homosexual behavior. That other sentient humans happen to disagree with him is not indicative of their being deserving of execution. When last I checked, this is still a free country, and living (and loving) in a manner that works for you is not a crime. While I'm not a theologian, I'd be willing to hazard a guess that Anderson's ignorant, hate-filled version of Christianity is as much about the teachings of Jesus Christ as the September issue of Penthouse.

Can't we all just get along? No? All right, then; fire when ready....
