And now for something completely different....

I spend a lot of time writing about politics and things that divide us. Every now and then, I run across a story that's so different from what I normally do, and yet so heart-warming, that I just can't pass on it. Yesterday's Oregonian featured a story that I think all of us can relate to on some level. I'll admit that the story of Dale and Vivian Denton brought tears to my eyes...and I knew it was something I had to share.

I'd imagine that most of us at some point in our lives have wanted and hoped for what the Dentons had- genuine love and commitment that lasted far longer than most of us have been alive. Instead of the usual reflections on politics and current affairs, then, I'm offering up something that can't help but make a reader feel as if there's still hope for us. Enjoy...and see if this story doesn't bring you to tears as it did me.
