OK, so I'm a wee bit late to the party with this one. Yep, this fine piece of political discourse goes back to July, but the mental midget responsible for forwarding it is now some sort of hero to the wingnuts (like Betsy McCaughey) who are impervious to truth and reason when it comes to health care reform. McKalip, whether he'll admit to it or not, is guilty of engaging in the sort of racist lunacy that makes it impossible to take him and those who think like him seriously. Think about it...if you honestly think that this is a serious contribution to the public debate surrounding health care reform, you're in serious need of professional help.
The problem is that people like McKalip really have no alternatives, no ideas of their own...unless obstruction, obfuscation, lies, propaganda, and character assassination pass for ideas these days. They're fine with a status quo in which close to 4000 people die every month because they have no health insurance with which to seek proper care. They're OK with a system in which health care is just another profit center. They're perfectly happy with a system more concerned with propping up the stock price of health care companies than providing for the health of Americans. Ultimately, it's not about health care. It's not about ensuring that we can guarantee quality, AFFORDABLE health care to ALL Americans. It's not even about compassion and simple human decency. No, it's about ensuring that the people currently profiting from our Third World health care system continue to do so. Amazing what millions of dollars worth of lies, propaganda, and fear-mongering will get you these days, isn't it? Same as it ever was.
