Things I might be thinking...if in fact I was actually thinking

It would seem that we somehow fell just a wee bit short of fulfilling today's quota of stupid, but that certainly doesn't mean that valiant efforts weren't put forth by many brave (if intellectually- and/or morally-challenged) souls. Without further ado, then, please accept my humble offering to the gods of stupid. It's the best I could do on short notice....

....You know things have become surpassingly surreal when I'm reduced to defending Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). No, I'm not a supporter nor even much of a fan. OK, the guy's a blithering idiot and a pandering ideologue of the first order. Still, when teabaggers and the oil and coal industries are driving the GOP crazy train, not even I can let it pass. Graham may be the Senate's version of a dog's breakfast, but not even he deserves to be pilloried by people so corrupt and thoroughly self-absorbed.

....Lou Dobbs Quits CNN is actually a Latin anagram that translates as "Who (&^%$#@ cares?" With any luck, Dobbs will take his bigoted blowhard act to someplace where news is still delivered by carrier pigeon and looks a lot like Idaho. Or Telemundo. Good God, y'all; how is it that a blowhard like Dobbs can get a well-paying gig at CNN and I'm still doing this gratis??

....The beautiful thing about working for Rupert Murdoch's media empire is enjoying the absolute freedom to say whatever you want (no matter how ignorant, inaccurate, or mean-spirited) about whomever you choose. Nice work if you can get it, eh?

....I don't know about you, but there are few things I find more satisfying and entertaining than watching Republicans eat their young. Is it just me, or is the GOP increasingly coming to resemble a circular firing squad? And how delicious is that?

....Yes, the murders at Ft. Hood are truly the definition of tragedy. There's an even bigger tragedy in play here, though, and one that gets little attention: the accumulated stress our men and women in uniform are being subjected to. Thirteen people may have died at Ft. Hood, but an average of 10 soldiers there commit suicide every year. When do we begin holding candlelight vigils and memorial services for this reality?

....Who says that Republicans aren't going green? They're even recycling campaign slogans, smears, and character assassination techniques. Before you know it, Michael Steele and Eric Cantor will be waxing rhapsodic over the joys of vegetarianism. Or not.

....Anti-tax activists and the food & beverage industry may be up in arms over proposals for a soda tax, but what, really, is so wrong and out of whack with the idea? We tax other unhealthy things- alcohol and tobacco, f'rinstance. Why not soda?

....No, of course we can't kill all the Muslims...but that's certainly not going to stop Bill O'Reilly from at least considering the possibility. Yes, then and only then will this country be safe for White Fundamentalist Christians.
