Another shining example of Christian compassion and charity

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Rev. Pat Robertson

It's not exactly a stretch to put forward the not exactly original opinion that Pat Robertson is an egregious waste of humanity. Always willing to deflect responsibility for suffering back on to those afflicted, Robertson arguably is the single most compassion-deficient "human being" on the face of the plant. That he purports to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a black eye for all good and decent Christians.

Robertson's latest greatest hit is blaming Haitians for the earthquake that devastated their homeland. Something about making a deal with the Devil back for free themselves from the tyranny of the French in 1804...yadayadayada.... That Robertson hasn't been laughed off the air long before now is embarrassing enough. That he continues to stain the airwaves with his hateful, twisted version of Christianity should enrage anyone who professes to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Pat Robertson gives Christianity a bad name, and yet the very people who should be shutting him down- good and decent Christians- are mute. By their silence, Christians are complicit in Robertson's crimes against humanity.

Haitians deserve compassion and assistance, not condemnation and dismissal based on the impotence ignorance of a hateful pseudo-Christian hypocrite. Yes, this is a free country, and, as I've often said, free speech can be and often is offensive speech. If Pat Robertson is so concerned about the Devil, he might want to start his crusade by taking a good, long look in the mirror.

I can only hope that there's a reserved parking place in Hell waiting for Rev. Robertson. Lord know that if he's a Christian, then I'm the Queen of England.
