Sometimes, blind hatred just isn't enough

Few modern figures on the political scene hate quite as many people, with quite as much intensity, as James Dobson. Gays, minority faiths, the First Amendment, Girl Scouts, SpongeBob Squarepants...if you don't think, act, or believe as Dobson does, you're an enemy. (One of my personal favorites is when Dobson insisted that gay marriage 'will destroy the Earth.' He wasn't kidding.)

Man, it's got to be tough when you realize that the organization you've devoted your life to just doesn't hate Teh Gayz with anywhere near the fiery passion you do? So, what's a "good Christian" to do? Turn the other cheek? Love others unconditionally? Practice Christ-like tolerance and patience? Yeah, right....

If you're James Dobson, of course you're not going to sit back and allow other, less virulent, haters to set the agenda. No, you're going to step up and do what (you think) Jesus would do. You're going to build your own soapbox, where you can peddle your particular flavor of angry, hate-filled Christianity without having to worry about those weaklings who would stifle you. Yes, indeed, Dobson is truly one of the most gifted and talented Christian despots extant today. How many other well-fed, self-righteous bigots can preach such virulent hatred of an entire class of individuals without feeling even a pang of guilt?

In retrospect, Focus on the Family was just a wee bit too passive for Dobson's liking. In the end, Dobson, upon learning that Focus wasn't going to allow him to vent his bile as he saw fit, picked up his bat all ball and went home. I suppose it was just a matter of time before he injected himself back into the public discussion. After all, hatred as strong as his seldom stays down for long.

James Dobson is an embarrassment to good and decent Christians who actually endeavor to live Christ-like lives as the follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. If Dobson is a Christian, then I'm the Queen of England. When a reasonable person reads his work and listens to his speeches (and why would you subject yourself to such hate-filled trash?), it's difficult not to come to the conclusion that Dobson knows nothing of Christian love and charity. The man is to Christianity what Osama bin-Laden is to Islam. Neither reflects the real, good, and true aspects of their faith...and yet both feel the perfect right to pollute the minds of those disposed to listen. Both willingly bastardize their faith to buttress their anger and hatred. Neither, despite their protestations to the contrary, are true warriors of their faith.

May James Dobson (soon) discover that he has a reserved parking space waiting for him in Hell...next to bin-Laden
