Yesterday, the FBI arrested O'Keefe and three others -- "charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony" -- saying that they were plotting to wiretap Sen. Mary Landrieu's office (D-LA). One of the other men, Robert Flanagan, is the son of William Flanagan, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. Two of the men "dressed as telephone company employees" and showed up to Landrieu's New Orleans office, saying they had to "fix phone problems." O'Keefe was already there and was "positioning his cell phone in his hand to videotape the operation"
Interesting isn't it? Should any of y'all for any reason doubt the ultimate hypocrisy of the Right-wing Echo Chamber, check the dull roar of absolute silence emanating from the Right on this story. Let's say a Liberal activist was caught trying to tap Sen. Mitch McConnell's phone. Not only is that a serious federal crime, but denizens of the far Right would immediately and demosnstrably erupt in paroxysms of righteous fury. Cries of "Treason!!" and "Off with his head!!" would ring from coast to coast...and I'm not certain I could marshal a convincing argument to counter this sort of madness. Yet when a Right-wing activist (and hero of Fox News Channel) attempts- hamhandedly, to be certain- to wiretap the phone of a Democratic Senator, what you hear is...the sound of the wind whistling through the trees. The silent ones include Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX), who sponsored a resolution in Congress honoring O' Keefe for his "work" in "exposing" ACORN's treachery and corruption. Right, committing a felony in the defense of Liberty is no crime, eh?
Remember, if a Republican does it, it's only because they fear for this country and they're desperate to protect democracy for good, God-fearing Americans. If a Democrat does it, it's the worst, most egregious example of Left-wing elitists trying to stifle democracy and the free exchange of ideas.
Hypocrisy...it truly is the one reliable, dependable Republican value. Until those of us on the Left stand up and expose this hypocrisy for what it is nothing will change...and even then, it's likely nothing will. Why? Because Democrats lack anything resembling testicles, that's why. It also doesn't help that most media outlets are controlled by, and therefore more friendly to, Conservative interests.
