Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, an Army physician, has refused to obey any orders from his commanding officers — including President Obama — until Obama produces his birth certificate…. “Any reasonable person looking critically at the evidence currently in the public domain would have questions about President Obama’s claim to be a natural born citizen,” Lakin says in the below video released the right-wing American Patriot Foundation. “I will disobey my orders to deploy [to Afghanistan] because I, and I believe all servicemen and women and the American people, deserve the truth about President Obama’s constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief.”
I can’t imagine that I’m the only one sick to death of idiot birthers like Lakin, who, despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary, refuse to acknowledge that Barack Obama is a native-born American. Lakin, oddly enough, had no problem with the Constitutional eligibility of his previous three Commanders in Chief, all of whom happened to be white and male. Gee, you don’t think the fact that Obama is…GASP!!!…African-American has anything at all to do with Lakin’s lunacy and hypocrisy, do you? No, of course not, silly….
This has all devolved to the point where the Army should just go ahead and do with Lakin what it normally does with soldiers who disobey lawful orders- court-martial him, convict him, and book him a bed at Ft. Leavenworth’s military prison. Lakin’s brain-dead protest hardly even merits attention, because no reasonable person can continue to believe that Obama’s birthplace and citizenship is in question. The State of Hawaii has long since settled that issue. If mental midgets like Lakin decide that facts and reality should have no impact on what they’ve convinced themselves is the truth, then they should be prepared to face the consequences.
The sad thing about this sorry episode is that Lakin has 18 years of service, which tells me that he’s probably had a very successful military career. Now he’s fully prepared to throw that all away, two years away from being eligible to retire with benefits, on some ridiculously overheated conspiracy theory?
If you’re going to throw away your career, you’d think that someone who’s been around as long as Lakin would want to at least make his final stand on a defensible principle. Jeebus, what a maroon….
