A personal message for Republicans: Go fornicate yourselves

Reid and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), in an effort to mollify a handful of conservative Democrats and moderate Republicans, have spent the past several weeks trimming the bill to reduce its deficit impact. But after jettisoning several provisions to help the old, the poor and the jobless, reducing the bill’s ten-year deficit impact down from $134 billion to just $33 billion, the bill is still sinking. Not a single Republican is willing to lend support and Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson is still holding out, leaving Democrats two votes short of the 60 needed to overcome the GOP filibuster.

I’ll immediately own up to the reality that this issue is personal for me. I, like millions of Americans, am unemployed. I have been for the past five months. It’s not something that I’m enjoying, but if you listen to Congressional Republicans, I’m a lazy, unmotivated, miserable excuse for a human being. This lack of compassion and understanding would be stunning if it wasn’t so typical. These folks never have never had to worry about where their next Big Mac is coming from. Their stalling on extending unemployment benefits for millions of the long-term unemployed can and should be taken as a very simple message to those of us not fortunate enough to have a job: F—K YOU, YOU LAZY, UNMOTIVATED, GREEDY HOBOES.

Meanwhile, Republicans are continuing to beat the drums for tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. After all, these are the folks who butter their bread. The unemployed? Yeah, a lot of them are going to vote Republican regardless, because a significant portion of the electorate can always be counted on to vote against their own best interests. Those that aren’t going to vote Republican? Well, they can go fornicate themselves, eh?

Interesting, isn’t it…there’s always plenty of money to throw at our two never-ending wars, but not even a fraction of that can be set aside for our nation’s unemployed? Billions upon billions of dollars have been flushed down metaphorical rat holes in Iraq and Afghanistan, and not a single Republican says “Boo!” about our national debt. Just try to pass an extension on unemployment benefits, spending that actually WILL stimulate the economy, and Republicans fall all over themselves bleating about the deficit? What a pitiful collection of hypocrites, lacking even the barest sense of compassion and humanity. If it’s not for the wars or their friends at Big Business, then it’s WHAT ABOUT THE DEFICIT???

Now they’re ALL Jim (“Tough shit!”) Bunning…compassion-deprived and possessed of hearts as black and evil as their bankrupt ideology. May all of them, every last one, rot in the Hell they so richly deserve

And here’s a question for Democrats: How can you allow a bill like this to be defeated when you have a majority…and it gets 57 out of 100 votes? I may have been a History major…but whatever happened to the idea of majority rule? And no, I don’t want to hear about the Senate’s arcane, indecipherable rules. I want results. Grow some balls and do the job y’all were elected to do, willya?
