When you have no argument or facts, just blame your "opponent", who does the research you won't

It may sound simplistic and perhaps even mean, but I’ll say it anyway: Republicans are lazy. How else can you explain Marco Rubio, who can’t be bothered to back up his arguments…unless you consider attacking Rachel Maddow sufficient proof of the correctness of his arguments? I find it interesting that Rubio has chosen to take on Maddow, who’s renowned (and justifiably so) for doing her homework. When Maddow claims that Rubio wants to add $3.5 trillion to the deficit, it’s because her research demonstrates that Rubio is talking out of both sides of his mouth, and his policies will in fact significantly add to the deficit. Rubio’s free to attempt to refute Maddow, but thus far he’s proven himself incapable of doing so…and so we get character assassination and ridicule- neither of which are effective debating strategies.

Maddow is not a strident voice on the Left in the mold of, say, Ed Schultz or Keith Olbermann, but the force of her argument lies in her research and fact-checking, which are legendary. There are few things I enjoy more than watching Maddow slowly dismantle a Right-wing argument with FACTS. She doesn’t shout, she doesn’t engage in hyperbole, but in her own way she’s the tortoise winning the race because she’s bothered to do the research and learn the facts. And the hares on the Right just HATE having their emotional, poorly-constructed, and ultimately unsupportable arguments “refudiated” by facts and truth. Facts and truth are not fungible concepts. They simply are…and Maddow deals dispassionately in facts and truth. This is why Marco Rubio is reduced to claiming that you have to know he’s right when Maddow claims he’s wrong. This is also why Rubio shouldn’t be trusted to manage a Dairy Queen, much less warm a chair in the Senate for six years.

Perhaps if there was someone- ANYONE- at Fox Noise Channel who approached their work as assiduously and seriously as Rachel Maddow, the Right might have some credibility. Operating like that is a lot of damn work, though…and those on the Right are generally far too lazy to do the hard work of garnering facts and learning the truth. After all, why do all that heavy lifting when you can really on fear, propaganda, and character assassination? Why spend the time and expend the energy doing research when you can pump The Big Lie?

When brain-dead zealots can refer to Rachel Maddow as a “loon”, you have to know that she’s on the right track…’cuz the Rabid Right HATES being called out for their lies and propaganda, don’tchaknow??
