An unintended, but effective, argument for atheism

LT GEN William Caldwell: “What I will tell you is that their very actions will in fact jeopardize the safety of the young men and women who are serving in uniform over here and also undermine the very mission that we’re trying to accomplish.”

Pastor Terry Jones: “[W]e are actually very concerned of course. We are taking the General’s words very serious. We are continuing to pray about the action on September the 11th. We are indeed very concerned about it…. I am saying we are definitely praying about it. We have firmly made up our mind, but at the same time, we are definitely praying about it.”

In other words, “We care little for anything but our own narrow, hateful beliefs. The safety and well-being of American troops are not our concern…not when we getting all sorts of media attention” Nice….

Greetings from AmeriKKKA, where hatred and bigotry can be freely practiced, consequences be damned. It’s not about “backing down”, as Pastor Jones has managed to convince himself, but since when does burning the Holy Book of another religion, one that worships the same God as Pastor Jones and his merry band of haters, accomplish ANYTHING of value?

Islam is not the problem. Intolerant zealots of any stripe are the problem. Pastor Jones is part and parcel of the very problem he so fervently decries. Of course, in his mind, it’s not bigotry and disrespect when Christians do it.

If this isn’t an effective argument for atheism, I’m not sure what would be.
